HAMILTON Maria    -     Transport Lady Penrhyn

Place & Date of Trial: Tried by the first Middlesex Jury before Mr. Justice Nares at Justice Hall in the Old Bailey at the sessions which began on Wednesday, 19 October 1785.

Crime & Sentence:    “Maria Hamilton was indicted for feloniously stealing on the 20th day of september last, one linen gown, value 21s., nine yards and a half of linen trimming value 2s. 3d., one silk and cotton gown, value 6s., one black stuff flounced petticoat, value 6s., one apron, value 12d  and 9s. 6d. in monies numbered, the property of James Groves, in the dwelling house of Thomas Shaw.”

“Guilty, of stealing to the value of 39s.   To be transported for 7 years”

Judgement recorded at the end of the same sessions.

Occupation:   Lace Weaver       age 33 years

                                                                       

TEAGUE Cornelius    -    Transport Scarborough

Place & Date of Trial:     At the Assizes held at Bodmin on 25 July 1785

Crime & Sentence:  “For burglariously breaking and entered the dwelling house of William Oliver about 2 in the Night and stealing thereout 90 gallons of Cyder val. 30s his goods”

Sentenced to be transported for 7 years.
